Letters to the COGSM

TABLE OF CONTENTS

May 27, 2010

Now is the time to start preparing for the feast of tabernacles. What problems have we had in the past, lets try and solve them now and not be making the same mistakes.

First of all the members need a place to camp or whatever.

The members need food. They can bring it with them or whatever. So food and lodging is important and preparing for those things is important. And remember this, we are the COGSM and we do not follow other churchs ways. Remember the members have responsibilities and through gods love they are asked to start preparing. Of course there is more to be said and I would like to hear from all you leaders with your input on the subject. God bless until next time.

hello saints of god. In regards to the feast of tabernacles the christian way is for us is to help one another. throwing money at every thing that comes up is not the answer we are gods people and we can with gods help solve the problem. brother elijah suggested that each family take in one feastgoer. that is provide a place to sleep and food for the length of the feast. a great suggestion.also when the visitor comes they can bring some provisions and that would also help. we have a few months to plan.

each leader that is going to have the feast needs to tell me so I can possibly use our website to help you so let me know soon. have a wonderful sabbath and god bless.

June 3 part 2

i want to give you some teaching on the feast of tabernacles from the scriptures.

this year the first day of the feast of tabernacles is thursday september 23. the 8th day of the feast is on thursday september 30. so we have time to get ready.

if you look at leviticus 23 verses 35 and 36 you will see that a commanded assembly (holy day) occurs only on the first and eighth day. what god requires is to have a church service on the first day and on the weekly sabbath day and then on the eighth day. this is how we do it at the COGSM USA.

next look at leviticus 23 verse 42. notice that it says "all who are native (or native born) Israelites shall dwell in booths." we stay in our regular homes during the feast because we are not native born Israel.

what we have to remember is that the feast of tabernacles is spiritual, not physical.

Commandment 4

"Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD your God. In it you shall do not work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, no your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it" (Ex.20:8-11).
"And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made" (Gen 2:2-3).
"Tomorrow is a Sabbath rest, a holy Sabbath to the LORD...So the people rested on the seventh day" (Ex 16:23,30).
"What man is there among you who has one sheep, and it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will not lay hold of it and lift it out? Of how much more value then is a man than a sheep? Therefore, it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath" (Matt 12:11-12).
"And pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath" (Matt 24:20); there would be no reason to pray this if the Sabbath was not going to be in existence. "And He said to them, 'The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath. Therefore the Son of Man is also Lord of the Sabbath'" (Mk 2:27); this verse makes it clear which day is the Lord's Day.
"And when the Sabbath had come, He began to teach in the synagogue" (Mk 6:2).
"And as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read" (Luke 4:16).
"Then He went down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and was teaching them on the Sabbaths" (Luke 4:31).
"The Son of Man is also Lord of the Sabbath...Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do evil, to save life or to destroy?" (Luke 6:5,9).
"But the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath...The Lord then answered him and said, 'Hypocrite...So ought not this woman...be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath?'" (Luke 13:14-16).
"'Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?'...And they could not answer Him regarding these things" (Luke 14:3,6).
"are you angry with Me because I made a man completely well on the Sabbath?" (John 7:23).
"Then Paul, as his custom was, went in to them and for three Sabbaths reasoned with them from the Scriptures...And he reasoned in the synagogue every Sabbath, and persuaded both Jews and Greeks" (Acts 17:2;18:4 see also 13:14,27,42,44).
"let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give to him who has need" (Eph 4:28)
"For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: 'If anyone will not work, neither shall he eat'" (II Thess 3:10); (recall that the requirement to work is also part of the Sabbath command, thus even that portion of the commandment is repeated in the New Testament.)
"And to whom did He swear they would not enter His rest, but to those who did not obey?" (Heb 3:18).
"For He has spoken in a certain place of the seventh day in this way: 'And God rested on the seventh day from all His works'" (Heb 4:4).
"There remains therefore a rest (literally sabbatismos, 'Sabbath rest') for the people of God. For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His" (Heb 4:9-10).
"That day was the Preparation and the Sabbath drew near...And they rested on the Sabbath in accordance with the commandment" (Luke 23:54,56)
"But when they departed from Pegra, they came to Antioch in Pisidia, and went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day and sat down" (Acts 13:14), they seemed to be following this admonition from John, "He who says he abides in Him ought also to walk just as He walked" (I John 2:6), since Jesus always went to the synagogues on the Sabbath (Luke 4:16).

Commandment 5

"Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the LORD your God is giving you" (Ex.20:12).
"Adam, the son of God" (Luke 3:38)
"Because you have heeded the voice of your wife, and eaten from the tree of which I commanded you, saying, 'You shall not eat it of it": Cursed is the ground for your sake" (Gen 3:17).
Notice that later a blessing of land is promised for those who obey this commandment (Ex 20:12; Duet 5:16).

"You shall not murder" (Ex.20:13).
"You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning" (John 8:44) (since the devil was a murderer from the beginning it seems clear that murder was not allowed before Mount Sinai).
"Cain rose up against Abel his brother and killed him...And He said, 'The voice of your brother's blood cries out to Me from the ground. So now you are cursed from the earth" (Gen 4:8,10).

"The eye of the adulterer waits for the twilight, saying, 'No eye will see me'; and he disguises his face" (Job 24:15).
Job, a married man, said, "I have made a covenant with my eyes; Why then should I look upon a young woman?" (Job 31:1).
"You have heard that it was said to those of old, 'You shall not commit adultery'. But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart" (Matt 5:27-28).
